Atheist Alliance

Atheist Alliance International is an organization of independent religion-free groups and individuals in the United States and around the world. Our primary goals are to help democratic, atheistic societies become established and grow and to work in coalition with like-minded groups to advance rational thinking through educational processes. All income goes to public outreach projects and helping member groups increase their membership and effectiveness. We have no paid staff. Our members run the Alliance, make all the decisions, and do all the work.

The Alliance sponsors annual conventions, publishes Secular Nation magazine and The Freethought Directory, maintains a web site that hosts member societies' web sites free of charge, and has a national distribution network for atheist videotapes on public access TV. To sponsor these programs in your community, contact Atheist TV Outreach Project Director Marie Alena Castle.

American Atheists For generations, Americans have been indoctrinated into believing that we enjoy only freedom of religion; that is, we are free to choose which religion we care to profess as long as we choose one. We are presented with a bewildering array of belief systems and told, in effect, to "pick a card, any card," but we may not decline to play the game. American Atheists takes the position that you have the right to say "none of the above" when faced with the ever-growing list of sects in our denomination-glutted religious system. You have the right to question and challenge the claims of religious leaders and organizations. You have the right to investigate and reject the tenets of religious belief. We also think that it is your right to be free from the burden of financially supporting religion in general, and any sect in particular.

Finally, you have the right to hear the Atheist viewpoint when religious opinions are voiced in the public square.
